MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
I would like to thank you for your support for SEED. I am Masahiro Urakabe, president and CEO of SEED Co., Ltd. in Japan.
Our history dates back to the year 1951 when we started research on contact lenses for the first time. Since then, we have been responding to the needs of the times with our accumulated knowledge and experiences, as well as partnering with international companies around the world to bring to market contact lenses with the latest technologies. Based on our philosophy that "Supporting Your Vision with Japanese Quality", we have a broad range of contact lenses to improve the quality of life of wearers around the world.
Recently, we commemorated the 60th anniversary of foundation in October 2017. In our gratitude for the communities and society, we participated in various social contribution activities. An example of this is that we constructed a nursery school near our Kounosu Research Institute, we made donations to the projects of guide dog development and provide support to people with visual impairment.
Once again I thank you for your support to SEED. By providing innovative contact lens and related eye care products, SEED is committed to support your vision.

HIGH-PERFORMANCE AND ECO-FRIENDLY FACILITY
All the manufacturing processes of SEED Pure Series are strictly managed at SEED Kounosu laboratory. Great care is taken in producing each SEED contact lens at the manufacturing plant in order to ensure the utmost safety of the eyes that wear them. SEED also takes its environmental responsibility seriously and ensures its facilities are eco-friendly.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY UTILISATION
SEED uses one of Japan’s largest steam accumulators to supply steam, which is essential for the autoclave sterilisation of contact lenses, in a stable and economical way. In addition, we have set up solar panel generation systems on the rooftop of the buildings to make use of renewable energy.
The introduction of FEMS energy management system in our manufacturing plant allows us to monitor and manage the effective use of electricity.
REDUCING WATER CONSUMPTION
Large amounts of pure water are used during the manufacturing process of soft contact lenses. To utilise discharged water from the factory, we have built a water recycling system for large-scale water conservation.
In addition, we have created eco-friendly technologies and facilities, i.e. the recycling of the plastics emitted from the manufacturing processes. We are continuously working on improvement of conservation with the aim to minimise environmental impact.
HIGH STANDARD OF INSPECTION PROCESS AND QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
To ensure the quality of the product, we only ship products that have been manufactured under strict quality management system and thorough inspection.
Furthermore, using two-dimensional code and ID tag, we have implemented integrated management of production and distribution. It enables all of the lenses shipped to be traceable.
The manufacturing plant has obtained the certification of ISO13485:2003, which is the international standard of quality management systems for medical devices. This helps to further strengthen our quality control system.
